Actor Imran Khan, last seen in the 2015 film Katti Batti, has been on a year-long sabbatical to the write the script of his directorial debut film. According to a report in MyNation.com, Imran’s maternal uncle Aamir Khan has liked the script and has decided to produce to the film. Furthermore, Aamir is also keen on launching his cousin Mansoor Khan’s daughter Zayn Marie in the film.
Described as a coming-of-age drama, Imran has written his directorial debut film in collaboration with writer-hairstylist Ayesha Devitre of Kapoor and Sons fame. The final draft of the script is almost complete, adds the report.
“In May this year the entire Khan family had met to celebrate Mansoor’s 60th birthday in Coonoor. Apparently, it was there that Imran’s script and casting was discussed. While Zayn Marie, who wants to become an actress, has earlier expressed to media that she would like to make it on her own, she has loved Imran’s script. So yes, currently discussions are on between Aamir, Imran and Mansoor about her launch,” a trade source was quoted as saying by MyNation.com.
Mansoor Khan directed Aamir Khan in his debut film, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Imran Khan played the role of young Aamir in the film. Mansoor and Aamir co-produced Imran’s Bollywood debut film, Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na.
Imran Khan holds a degree in filmmaking from the Los Angeles branch of New York Film Academy.
