“Day 1 on ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ excited to start this new journey! See you on set Shahid Kapoor! Wish me luck guys!” Shraddha tweeted on Monday morning.
Shahid has already started shooting for the film. To be shot in Uttarakhand, the film is a social comedy-drama revolving around electricity, also features actress Yami Gautam, who will be seen playing the role of a lawyer. The film will be shot in Rishikesh, Tehri, Haridwar, Mussoorie and Nainital and wrap up by May.
The movie is directed by Shree Narayan Singh, who helmed the Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. As of now, the film is slated to release on August 31, 2018.
Earlier it was reported exclusive by us that Shraddha will be essaying the role of a North Indian girl whose life provides the plot for the story while Shahid and Yami essay the role of a lawyer. Shraddha will play Shahid’s love interest in the film which deals with the topic of the shortage of electricity. A source had laredy told us that, “While Yami is the second lead in the film, the climax of the film will surprise the audience. Yami has a huge surprise for her fans and thus the actress is super happy being associated with the project. Yami fans will love the ending of Batti Gul Meter Chalu.”
The source has also further revealed that “Yami Gautam has a pivotal role to play in the film and she will surely receive a lot of praise after the social drama releases.” Well, we really look forward to the film.
While Shraddha’s Half Girlfriend and Haseena Parkar did not do very well at the Box Office, Shahid’s Padmaavat is making some big bucks. While Yami was seen in Kaabil and Sarkar 3 last year that fared decently at the Box Office and now that social dramas tend to win hearts let us see if this trio manages to impress the audience.
