Asus ZenFone 5Z has created a lot of buzz around itself by being the cheapest smartphone to be powered the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and the perfect competitor for the OnePlus 6. The Asus ZenFone 5Z comes with a plethora of benchmark features such as AI-based features, dual camera module, 18:9 displays having 90 per cent screen-to-body ratio, ZeniMoji and more.
That being said, the Asus ZenFone 5Z went on sale in India for the first time on July 9 at Rs. 29,999 for the 6GB RAM with 64GB storage model, Rs. 32,999 for the 8GB RAM with 128GB storage model and Rs. 36,999 for the 8GB RAM with 256GB storage version. On the day when it went on sale for the first time in India, the Asus ZenFone 5Z also received its first major software update which offers improved cameras and comes with June 5, 2018 security patch.
Firmware-over-the-air update with software version 18.104.22.168 has been rolled out for the Asus ZenFone 5Z which comes with improvements in notification LED, NFC support, and secure album for starters. On the other hand, this update will also fix the occasional screen flicker problem which was reported earlier while focus speed for video recording and video calls have been improved. Other changes include more stability of the operating system along with some enhancements in the power management system.
To recall, the Asus ZenFone 5Z was launched in India recently and sports a 6.2-inch Full HD+ Super IPS (2246 × 1080 pixels) display with 19:9 aspect ratio, Glove Touch support and 2.5D curved glass, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. It is powered by the Qualcomm’s flagship octa-core Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with Adreno 630 GPU and supports expandable storage up to 2TB.
While the smartphone runs Android 8.0 (Oreo) out of the box with ZenUI 5.0 on top, it supports hybrid Dual SIM connectivity as well as Dual VoLTE support. Other features include Face Unlock as well as a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometrics. The whole package is backed by a 3300mAh inbuilt battery which comes with ASUS BoostMaster fast charging support and AI charging technology.
For optics, there is a 12-megapixel primary rear camera with Sony IMX363 sensor, 0.03s Tri-Tech auto-focus, dual-tone LED Flash, Dual Pixel PDAF, 1.4μm pixel size, f/1.8 aperture, and a secondary 8-megapixel camera with an OV8856 sensor and f/2.0 aperture. At the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera with an OV8856 sensor and f/2.0 aperture.
