The much-awaited debut of Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor’s film Dhadak finally hit theatres on Friday. While the film is getting mixed reviews, most audiences and critics have appreciated her work individually and have been all praise for her co-star Ishaan Khatter, who happens to be Shahid Kapoor’s half-brother and was last seen in Majid Majidi’s Beyond the Clouds.
Recently news hit the web that Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar were among the top 100 earners in the entertainment business in the world in 2018, according to a Forbes list. However, we rarely ever get to know what a debutant or a young actor who has barely worked in one or two films,what they get paid in show business.
So how much did Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter get paid for Dhadak? According to a report in dailyhunt, Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi and Ishaan, both got paid Rs 60 lakh for their work in Dhadak. Meanwhile, seasoned actor Ashutosh Rana, who plays Janhvi’s father in the film – Rana Singh, took home Rs 80 lakh as payment for this one.
Ajay-Atul, the music director duo, who were the composers of both Dhadak and Sairat, of which Dhadak is an adaptation, took home Rs 1.5 crore. The music in the film has been specifically loved by fans and critics alike. It captured the same nuances of Sairat while adding the Bollywood masala and dance beats to it.
Meanwhile, director of the film, Shashank Khaitan, who has delivered two blockbusters for Dharma Productions so far in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania that starred Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, took home the biggest pay cheque – Rs 4 crore. Meanwhile, Nagraj Manjule, who wrote and directed the Marathi film Sairat, was paid Rs 2 crore, we assume for securing the rights to get a remake done.

The report also revealed that the total budget for Dhadak was over Rs 70 crore and those who have seen the film will not be surprised because of the massive sets, the lush outfits and the picturesque cinematography.
The makers will now be hoping that the film does good business on its opening weekend to ensure that their investment gets good return. According to trade analysts, Dhadak is looking at an amount between Rs 7 – 10 crore on its opening day and Rs 25 -30 crore for its opening weekend collections.
