Bollywood stars may be exquisite with their craft but are rarely ever the ones to finish their academic stint. Barring a few like Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan among others, most actors in Bollywood gave up their academic life to follow their dream of becoming a movie star. Today, we look at two such upcoming actors Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter and their educational qualification.
The two young actors have been busy promoting their upcoming film Dhadak of every possible platform made available to them. An adaptation of the Marathi film Sairat, Dhadak already has fans buzzing about the pair. Both Ishaan and Janhvi have become overnight stars and people want to know ever single detail about them.
So, how qualified are Janhvi and Ishaan when it comes to their academics? As it turns out to be, both actors have passed their 12 standard – so, completed their schooling but didn’t pursue academics further because they wanted to chase their dream of becoming filmstars.
In an interview with film critic Rajeev Masand, Janhvi Kapoor revealed: “I studied till the 12th, I actually studied in an IB school and then I never went to college so I am severely uneducated.” Rajeev then turned to Ishaan who had this to say: “Neither did I…I studied up till my 12th and I did my A-levels and then I was able to break-free of traditional academics and study what I wanted to.”
However, Janhvi failed to mention that she also went to an acting school in New York to sharpen her craft. In an earlier interview with Radio One, Janhvi was asked about her experience studying films and method acting at Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York, and she said:
“Every experience is what you make of it. I think that school had a lot to offer. But, I think personally I have learned a lot more with my time on the set of my film and from my director. I was very taken by everything they were teaching but their approach to acting didn’t resonate with me.”
Incidentally, Sanju star Ranbir Kapoor also went to the same college to learn method acting however, like Janhvi, he too wasn’t satisfied with the curriculum and has revealed in the past that he learned more on his film sets and from directors as compared to what he learned at the institute.
Dhadak has been directed by Shahshank Khaitan who has previous directed films like Humpty Sharama Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania with Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. The film has been produced by Karan Johar and his Dharma Productions while Agneepath music composers Ajay—Atul has composed the music for this film.
Dhadak is set to hit theatres this on July 20. Stay tuned to ZoomTV.com for more updates on Dhadak and its stars Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter.
