New Delhi: After the end of the rollicking FIFA Word Cup 2018 campaign, the transfer season has turned out to be pretty exhilarating with rumours churning up for every football star. On the top, Belgium skipper and Chelsea star Eden Hazard is in the midst of a rumoured transfer to Real Madrid and reports have suggested that the two clubs have come to an initial agreement.
At the end of Belgium’s heartbreaking World Cup exit in the semifinals against France, Hazard had hinted towards his shift to Santiago Bernabeu. He had said, “After six wonderful years at Chelsea it might be time to discover something different. Certainly after this World Cup. I can decide if I want to stay or go, but Chelsea will make the final decision – if they want to let me go. You know my preferred destination.”
Now, according to Le10Sport, Real Madrid and Chelsea have reached the first agreement over a 190-million-euros deal. The reports also claim that the defending Champions League winners have talked to Hazard’s father about the contract and has also started negotiating with Chelsea.
On the other hand, Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Hazard’s lawyer, father and Madrid will hold a meeting on Saturday with the Spanish Giant ready to offer 125 million euros for the midfielder.
Meanwhile, Chelsea teammate Cesc Fabregas has urged the player not to leave Stamford Bridge, calling him an integral part of the squad. “I think he’s our best player,” said the Spaniard. “We are a top club, we want to be a top team, we want to win things, and for that you need your best players. Eden is one of them. He’s a player that we all love to play with, especially me.”
Most reports also claim that the Hazard deal with Madrid includes the signing of Thibaut Courtois, who still has a year left on his contract. Meanwhile, Barcelona is also in the race to rope in the Belgian star in return for Ousmane Dembele.
