We are hours away from finding out who will lift the FIFA World Cup 2018 trophy when France take on Croatia in the blockbuster summit clash on Sunday. Both the teams have remained unbeaten in the competition so far and are just a step away from glory. While the Les Bleus will rely on their dominant attacking force upfront, dark horses Croatia will look for inspiration from their solid midfield.
Fans of both the sides have already sorted out their best playing XIs and are eagerly waiting for the two teams to battle it out on the pitch. Joining the bandwagon of predictions, Indian cricketers KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav have put their weight behind Hugo Lloris-led side. After taking a record six-fer to help India win the opening ODI against England by eight wickets, Kuldeep gave a candid interview to KL Rahul for BCCI TV.
“Before the World Cup I was supporting Brazil but they were knocked out. Now in the finals, I think France will lift the cup, they are a good team,” Yadav said when asked about the team he will be rooting for in the finals of the FIFA World Cup. Rahul too backed the French team for the title.
It was a historic feat for Kuldeep as he became the first ever left-arm wrist spinner to scalp six wickets in an ODI game. He has so far enjoyed a superb outing in the ongoing tour and has been arguably the best bowler for the Virat Kohli-led side. The left-arm chinaman has picked 18 wickets in 5 games against England (11) and Ireland (7) combined and continues to trouble the hosts in every match.
He opened up to Rahul on his six-fer and said he was nervous before the spell but was happy to get six wickets, “Before the game I was nervous. Every game is important from now onwards. 6/25 couldn’t ask better than this,” he said.
Rahul then pointed out how he has noticed that the ace wrist spinner has worked remarkably well on his fitness, to which Kuldeep concurred and said he has been reaping benefits of the disciplined routine. “In U-19 I was 75 kgs. I was working hard on my fitness and that’s reaping the benefits,” said the Chinaman spinner.
