FIFA World Cup 2018 is producing the last minute gasping results and Iran vs Portugal was no different. It was the stoppage time which saw the drama unfolded as Iran was awarded a penalty in the dying minutes. It was a challenge of handball from Sardar Azmoun who was trying to head in Portuguese net. After a close look at the VAR, it was given as a penalty. Karim Ansarifard converted one as Iran equalised with Portugal 1-1 and then made some sudden attacks to almost make it to the next round of FIFA World Cup 2018.

It was a tactical battle between Iran and Portugal as both the team had different ways of playing on the field in the FIFA World Cup 2018. While Portugal were ball hoggers, Iran tried to outpace and physically dominate the European team. The game was charged as much was at stakes for both the teams.

While both the teams from Group B almost failed to break the deadlock near the halftime. However, a quality kick from Ricardo Quaresma coming from his right foot found the net in a miraculous way and gave Portugal the lead.

Portugal got another chance to double their lead early in the second half as Ronaldo was awarded penalty kick but he missed the one from the spot as the entire stadium, the manager and players went in disbelief.

The match was also being judged by the fate of the other game between Spain and Morocco being run simultaneously. The other game saw Morocco taking the early lead and then later squandering it only to gain it one more time and then in the dying minutes Spain finally sealing it 2-2 for a draw allowing them to enter Round of 16.
