Honor, the sub-brand of Chinese smartphone giant Huawei, has sent out invites for a smartphone that will launch on May 22, 2018. Not much is known about Honor’s upcoming smartphone, but it is expected that it will be part of the Honor 7 family. The invite is a gif image that that animates with the number 7 formed out of the front and rear of the smartphone. Barely visible in the invite is the front screen of the smartphone that shows the top bezel, and the rear of the smartphone which appears to be white in colour along with a camera module.
Honor 7 is a mid-range family of devices from the Huawei brand, and we can expect the smartphone to fall into the same category. To recall, the Honor 7X was the last smartphone from the Honor brand in the 7 family.
The Honor 7X features an aluminium body with glass front. It sports a 5.93-inch full HD+ (1080x2160p) display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Shielding the display is Corning Gorilla Glass. The smartphone is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC with Mali-T830 MP2 GPU. It includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
On the camera front, there are dual rear cameras- 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel lens with phase detection autofocus, LED flash. The front-facing camera is an 8-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture and shoots Full HD videos. It is backed by a 3340mAh battery and runs Android 8.0 Oreo.
Honor is also set to launch the Honor 10 smartphone in India tomorrow. It will go on sale exclusively on Flipkart from May 16, 2018. Honor 10 will be competing against none other than the OnePlus 6, which will be launching in India on May 17.
That being said, there have been reports that the Honor 10 price in India will be close to the Rs. 35,000-mark and since the smartphone has already been launched in China, we know a great deal about the upcoming smartphone and what kind of features as well as specifications it will offer.
For starters, one of the biggest highlights of the Honor 10 is the Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint sensor which is used for biometric authentication. In simple words, the Honor 10 does not feature a physical home button but has a dedicated space at the bottom which functions as a fingerprint scanner.
The company has this area with dots in order to let you know that this is where you need to press your finger if you want to unlock your smartphone. That said, the sensor sits beneath the glass and not on top of it.
