After the surprise blockbuster success of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Kartik Aaryan became a box office force to reckon with. It was quite a change in the way the media started covering the news related to him. Soon he walked the ramp with none other than the royalty of Hindi film industry Kareena Kapoor Khan. And soon there were rumours of the two starring together in a film.
Moreover, the film was said to be backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Production. But a couple of days ago, a new film starring Kartik Aaryan was announced but it wasn’t Karan Johar’s. It was, in fact, a Hindi remake of Kannada hit Kirik Party Produced by Dheeraj Wadhwan, Ajay Kapoor and Vrithika Laykar.
So, what happened to the Karan Johar film which also starred Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor? Well, if a report by Deccan Chronicle is to be believed then Kartik Aaryan was dropped by Karan Johar due to Pyaar Ka Punchnama star’s over-enthusiastic team and the fact that he demanded a fat paycheque.
A source from Dharma productions told Deccan Chronicle,
Dharma sent Kartik feelers regarding a possible role, but it was nothing concrete. His team messed it up by releasing reports that the actor had been signed by Karan Johar when no such thing had happened. And if that was not enough, they also leaked the news that he was going to be paired opposite Kareena when she was actually paired with Akshay in the film.
A trade analyst stated,
He thinks he’s an A-list star now, and that he should be paid accordingly. Sadly, the producers don’t agree.
