Legendary actress Sridevi was fondly remembered in a prayer meet organised by a host of stars of Kollywood, from where she took the baby steps to a shining career. Sridevi, who passed away in Dubai on February 24, breathed her last at a Dubai hotel where she had gone to attend the wedding of actor nephew Mohit Marwah.
The event, which is out of bounds for the media, saw the attendance of several actors. Her husband Boney Kapoor and daughters Janhvi and Khushi along with her close friend Manish Malhotra flew down from Mumbai for the event.
Actors Suriya, Arun Vijay, Prabhu Dheva, Jyotika, Meena, Raadhika Sarath Kumar and Suhasini Mani Ratnam, A.R. Rahman and Lata Rajinikanth were among those who attended the meet. Thala Ajith also arrived with his wife Shalini Ajith.
Sridevi started her career at the age of 4 with Tamil films and after working for 15 hours she moved to Hindi film industry. According to reports, earlier in the day, the South Indian Artists Association (SIAA) had organised a condolence meeting in which several office-bearers and members, including actors Bhagyaraj, Sivakumar, Sripriya, and Ambika were present.

While the entire South film Industry was seen in attendance at the final round of prayers, mega-stars Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth were missing. However, the co-stars had earlier rushed to Mumbai soon after the news of her demise, to bid the actress a final farewell.
Sridevi’s body was cremated on February 28 in Mumbai. Her ashes were immersed in Rameswaram and Haridwar last week.
Sridevi, whose is best known for films like Chandni, Mr India and Nagina, took a sabbatical from the big screen after she married Boney Kapoor in 1996. She made a comeback with English Vinglish in 2012 and Tamil fantasy drama Puli remains one of her last movies. MOM was her last film that released and she has also shot for Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero, which releases later this year.
