Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphones are receiving the Android 8.1 Oreo update in select regions. A ‘Senior MotoAgent’ confirmed that the Android Oreo update for the Moto G5 in Mexico and Moto G5 Plus smartphones in India and Brazil have started rolling out in phases. Not all users in the mentioned regions will get the update immediately being a phased roll-out and the agent stated that the update for other regions are still pending will get the update in the future.
Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus launched last Spring with Android 7.0 Nougat and has been waiting for updates ever since. Before Lenovo took over the Moto brand from Google, the G series of devices received quick updates on par with Google Nexus. However, post-acquisition, Lenovo has been painfully-slow in dispatching quick security and software updates to the Moto smartphones.
Moto G5 Plus sports a 5.2-inch Full HD (1080×1920 pixels) display with 16:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the Snapdragon 625 SoC with Adreno 506 GPU. It includes 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of internal storage. On the camera front, there is a 12-megapixel shooter with f/1.7 aperture. The front camera is a 5-megapixel lens with f/2.2 aperture. The smartphone is backed by a 3000mAh battery and runs on the Android operating system.
Moto G5 sports a 5.0-inch Full HD display. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC with Adreno 505 GPU. It includes 2/3GB of RAM and 16/32GB of internal storage. On the camera front, there is a 13-megapixel primary camera with f/2.0 aperture. The front camera is a 5-megapixel shooter with f/2.2 aperture. The device is backed by a 2800mAh battery and runs on the Android operating system.
