Narendra Modi Is Fooling The Nation: Congress Slams PM For Visiting Mosques When Abroad

3 min read

New Delhi: The Congress party has hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly refusing to wear skull caps and visit mosques in the country but happily do so during foreign visits. Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi made the attack in a tweet, in which he posted a supposed conversation between a reporter and senior Congress leader Kamal Nath during a press conference.

As per Singhvi, Kamal Nath was asked about PM Modi having ‘problem’ in wearing skull caps and visiting mosques in the country, but happily visiting mosques, wearing caps and offering chadar during visits abroad. Kamal Nath replied, as per Singhvi’s tweet: “For a man who has fooled the nation, it doesn’t matter whether he wears the cap or not.”

In a separate tweet, Singhvi posted a picture of PM Modi visiting the Chulia Mosque in Singapore during his three-nation visit last week. The PM was wearing a green shawl during the visit to one of Singapore’s oldest mosques.

In the run-up to 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress party is leaving no stone unturned to hit out at PM Modi and gain political mileage. It has questioned the PM over his foreign visits, alleged rise of the radical right in the country, rising fuel and other prices, economic growth etc.

The biggest of the attacks has been on the economic front, where a recent spate of alleged scams has given fodder to the opposition parties to unite and corner the government. Scams involving Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya have been hogging limelight.

Religion-related attacks, including those on cow slaughter, have seen a jump in the recent past, with even the PM coming out to condemn those and advocating strict punishment for those involvd in them.
