New Delhi: Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam who left London for Lahore on Friday are currently at Abu Dhabi. Nawaz and Maryam who were sentenced in the Avenfield corruption reference by an anti-corruption court will be arrested upon their arrival in Lahore.
According to ANI, Nawaz along with daughter Maryam are to be arrested at the Abu Dhabi airport in United Arab Emirates (UAE) later in the day. While Pakistani media originally reported that the arrests will be made at the Lahore Airport.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has deployed teams both at the Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport ant and at Islamabad International Airport to make the arrests, said reports. The father-daughter duo is scheduled to land at Lahore airport but teams were deputed at Islamabad airport in case the flight is diverted for any reason.
10:33 AM: Maryam Nawaz tweeted an image of the duo waiting at the Abu Dhabi airport on Friday morning. More than 10,000 police personnel have been deployed in Lahore for the Sharifs’ arrival and the subsequent arrests.

10:49 AM: Sharif said he will taken straight to the jail form the airport but he is doing this for the people of Pakistan. “I’ll be taken straight to jail. But I’m doing this for people of Pak, sacrificing for generations to come. Such opportunity won’t come again. Let’s build destiny of Pakistan together,” Sharif tweeted.
