New Delhi: OnePlus 5T Sandstone White variant was launched by the Chinese smartphone maker on January 4, and will be available for purchase on January 9 on the company’s website. The latest model bears resemblance to the Star Wars limited edition model, launched in December 2017. The device comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage and is priced $559 dollars (similar to the Midnight Black variant).
SandStone makes a return to OnePlus devices, first seen on the OnePlus One and then on the OnePlus 2. However, the finish of the material is much smoother, and less gritty compared to the original SandStone finish found on the earlier flagships.
OnePlus states that the process to apply the SandStone finish on the phone takes about 75 minutes and includes painting and baking the phone’s shell several times. Consequently, the SandStone White variant is the most expensive flagship device produced by the company. While the company has released other phones with the sandstone finish in the past, this is the first time it has been applied to a metal device; and in white colour. The alert slider button gets a red makeover, and the remaining buttons- volume rocker, power key, and the sim tray have been painted black.
In terms of specifications, the smartphone is similar to the Midnight Black variant. It sports a 6.01-inch Full HD+ Optic AMOLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Shielding the display is Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The OnePlus 5T is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor with Adreno 540 GPU. It is available in two variants- 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. On the camera front, the smartphone has a dual rear camera setup- a primary 16MP lens with f/1.7 aperture and a secondary 20MP low-light lens with the same f/1.7 aperture. It is capable of shooting 4K video with Electronic Image Stabilisation. The selfie camera is a 16MP shooter with f/2.0.
