SHOCKING! Burt Reynolds, The Mustachioed Hollywood Icon Passes Away At The Age Of 82 – Details Inside

6 min read

One of Hollywood’s icons, the all-American Burt Reynolds, know for his on-screen and off-screen charisma, passed away last night. The veteran actor, who was a part of the cast for Quentin Tarantino’s next Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, died of cardiopulmonary arrest after he complained of chest pains and shortness of breath. The Michigan native had played many prominent roles in films like Smokey and the Bandit (1977), Starting Over (1979), Texas (1982), Best Friends (1982), The Man Who Loved Women (1983), Boogie Nights (1997) among others.

According to a report in Fox News, a caller was heard calling for an ambulance to Reynolds Estate, on September 6 after the Hollywood megastar complained on chest pains and had difficulty in breathing. While an ambulance did arrive and took the Hollywood icon to the hospital but the actor still died of a cardiac arrest.

Reynolds was a fan favourite for his brand of frivolous, good-ol’-boy fare, but the actor was never really favoured by the film critics. So, in many ways, he was like the Salman Khan of Hollywood. His films in the late 70s would crack unimaginable numbers and he dominated that era but yet never get the blessing of the critics.

Much like Salman Khan, Reynolds too never challenged himself with complicated, layered or character roles, he was in the movie business for one reason and one reason only – to have a good time and enjoy doing what he does best – kickass!

“I didn’t open myself to new writers or risky parts because I wasn’t interested in challenging myself as an actor. I was interested in having a good time,” Reynolds recalled in his 2015 memoir, But Enough About Me. “As a result, I missed a lot of opportunities to show I could play serious roles. By the time I finally woke up and tried to get it right, nobody would give me a chance.”

AT 82, Reynolds was part of the cast for Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Oscar-bait film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood which stars other Hollywood icons like Al Pacino, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Dakota Fanning, Tim Roth Kurt Russell, among others. Our prayers and condolences go out to the Reynolds family.
