Xiaomi’s Wednesday India launch event is set to see the unveiling of the company’s first Mi TV alongside two new smartphones under Redmi Note branding. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 successor, the Redmi Note 5, is almost confirmed though we have finally received the details of the second smartphone launching tomorrow – the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. The Wednesday launch event will see Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro as well as launch of the first Mi TV model in the country.
The new ‘Pro’ version of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will have dual camera setup, as we had exclusively claimed in our earlier report. Interestingly, the dual cameras on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro will have a vertical placement which means iPhone X-like dual camera setup. The official promotional image we have received from one of the sources confirm that Xiaomi is promoting the Redmi Note 5 Pro as “India’s camera beast” and will be priced competitively to take on the likes of Honor 7X and Honor 9 Lite.
For specifications, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, which will make it the first device sporting the chipset in the country. In fact, the Redmi Note 5 Pro will become the first smartphone globally to debut the Snapdragon 636 SoC. It sports a 12-megapixel primary sensor at the back accompanied by a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. The primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture while the secondary sensor will come with f/2.0 aperture. For selfie lovers, the Chinese company has bumped the camera sensor to 20-megapixel and will come with a selfie-light. The front camera will use Sony IMX376 sensor and will come with Beautify 4.0.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro will come with a 5.99-inch full-screen display and with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The screen resolution of 1080×2160 pixels full-HD+ and also comes with 2.5D glass. The handset will come with on-screen buttons. Under the hood, the Redmi Note 5 Pro will come with a 4000mAh battery which will be non-removable. The company is going with three variants for the Redmi Note 5 Pro which include 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, 4GB RAM with 64GB storage, and 6GB RAM with 64GB storage. There will be fingerprint sensor at the back panel. The Redmi Note 5 Pro will run on MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat. It will come with Micro-USB and unlikely to support fast charging. It comes with 158.6×75.4×8.05mm and weigh 181 grams.
Talking about the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Note 5, it will also sport a 5.99-inch full-screen display, pack 4000mAh battery, 12-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, and will run on dated Snapdragon 625 processor.
