Ahead of Pakistan General elections, scheduled to be held on July 25, Shehbaz Sharif, brother of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was seen singing a song during an electoral campaign. He later took to Twitter and posted the video. The 2-minute video shows Sharif listening to the Akelay na jaana, hamain chhorh kar tum – tumharay bina hum bhala kia jiyain gay for the first few moments. He later grabs the mic from the singer and sings even as others around him start clicking selfies with the politicians.

“I accepted the demand of the people of Karachi 🙂 “Akelay na jaana, hamain chhorh kar tum – tumharay bina hum bala kia jiyain gy” with sincere thanks for their warm welcome! Pleasure to sing along with the singers who were performing!” he said on Twitter on Tuesday evening. The video quickly went viral on social media as many took to Twitter to comment on Sharif’s gesture. “Singing and dancing will not fool the people of Karachi. You had the government in the center for five years n did nothing about water and garbage. U could not even protect Indus water treaty. Get ready Karachi will reject you inshallah,” said one of the users.

“Great Shahbaz can get a new job after he loses the election. He won’t be jobless. I would be the first to love you and support you if you can account for all your and your families assets. For God sake teach us how to be billionaires,” tweeted one Jay Khan.

Sharif has earlier expressed confidence that his party had done good work when it was in power before the interim government took over. He had said that the PML-N had delivered on the promises made in the 2013 general elections and that should help the party in the forthcoming elections. He will be contesting from Karachi in the elections on July 25.
