Xiaomi Redmi 6 series of smartphones are expected to launch in their home market of China today. The launch event is scheduled for 11:30 AM IST, and the company will likely launch the Redmi 6, Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 Plus/Pro models. The budget-oriented smartphones are seen as successors to the Redmi 5 series launched last year. With respect to new features, Xiaomi is said to bring dual rear cameras on the Redmi 6 and a quad camera setup on the Redmi 6 Plus along with a display notch.
The Redmi 6 series of smartphones have already made an appearance on TENAA, which is the Chinese certification website. Based on the listings, the Redmi 6 is said to have a metal construction on the back. The dual rear cameras are seen to be aligned horizontally at the top left corner. The circular fingerprint sensor is seen to resemble the one on the Redmi 5 series. On the front, there is noticeable bezel throughout.
The Redmi 6A is expected to come with a single rear camera setup and the Redmi 6 Plus/ Pro is said to have dual cameras on the front and back along with a display notch. The smartphones have been advertised to offer a ‘lag-free experience’ in the long run and will likely ship with the latest MIUI 10 operating system along with AI Portrait mode for the cameras.
Specifications wise, the Redmi 6 is said to sport a 5.45-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. It may be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC with Adreno 506 GPU. It could come in three variants- with 2/3/4GB of RAM and 16/32/64GB of internal storage. The smartphone is expected to support external storage via microSD card. The Redmi 6 could be backed by a 3000mAh battery and run on MIUI 10 which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
Redmi 6A will likely sport similar hardware as the Redmi 6 but with a single rear camera instead of the dual rear cameras that is said to be on the Redmi 6. In addition, the front-facing camera is said to be a 5-megapixel shooter.
Redmi 6 Plus or Redmi 6 Pro is said to have a 5.84-inch full-HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is said to come with dual cameras on the front and back (12-megapixel + 5-megapixel). The device could be backed by a 4000mAh battery and run on MIUI 10.
