Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is all set to launch in India on Wednesday which is more or less a given thanks to a number of leaks in recent weeks. The Wednesday India event is likely to see the launches of two smartphones, a TV model, and the Mi Box, people familiar with the matter told Times Now.

Apart from the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, the Chinese company has another smartphone up its sleeve which will be unveiled at the same event on Wednesday. The Xiaomi India launch event will also mark the debut of the Mi TV series in the country. Another source who received the stocks confirmed that the Redmi Note 5 will be a rebranded version of the Redmi 5 Plus that launched in China in December 2017. Previous reports have claimed that the Redmi Note 5 may be priced higher than the Redmi Note 4 in India.

Another person familiar with the matter told that the company will be bringing its TV line-up in the price range starting at Rs. 30,000 and above. The first Mi TV to launch in India will be a 55-inch model. At this point, there’s no word whether the company is launching multiple TV models at the Wednesday event. Apart from the Mi TV, the Chinese company is also expected to launch the Mi Box at the same event. Xiaomi’s Mi Box supports HDR video support and comes with a Bluetooth-enabled voice remote included.

People familiar with the launch further told Times Now that the company wants to make its February 14 event as its biggest this year. The company reportedly has five new devices to showcase on the launch day and all will be available via Flipkart alongside its own Mi.com. It is being said that the products will be also available via offline channels like Vijay Sales and others. The Mi TV is unlikely to be available via Mi Home Store official stores in the beginning, a source claimed.

Xiaomi, which entered the Indian market in 2014, has launched smartphones, fitness trackers, power banks, a tablet, Mi Air Purifier, Mi VR headset, router, wireless Bluetooth speaker, and other products. The Chinese company, however, has been giving its Mi TV range a miss which has been hugely demanded by its Mi fan base.

The second Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 variant is said to come with a dual camera setup at the back. The smartphone will be priced to compete with the likes of Honor 7X, Moto G5S Plus, and more in the same price segment. Both the Redmi Note 5 variants are said to come with 18:9 display which will be marketed as a big highlight of the device.

Singapore-based research firm Canalys recently confirmed that Xiaomi shipped more smartphone units in India followed by Samsung in the fourth quarter of 2017.
